If you’ve read these posts before, you know that we are behind the heat pump movement.

The heat pump movement makes winners out of everyone.

  • Homeowners get a good payback (let’s assume the contractor treats them fairly)

  • Contractors get another project

  • Greenhouse gases are reduced due to less gas being burned in winter

  • Utility company summertime load is reduced due to greater efficiency in summer

  • The monthly savings can go toward that electric vehicle payment

Focus on Energy is behind the heat pump movement too. On March 11th, Focus On Energy announced they would incentivize every residential heat pump install with gas backup with $1000. It sounds like Focus on Energy wants to make a lot more winners! Air Flow does too.

Per the announcement:

New equipment installed on or after April 15, 2021 will be eligible for the dual fuel heat pump incentive, up to $1,000.

  • Systems installed with a propane or oil furnace are eligible for a $300 incentive

  • Systems installed with a natural gas furnace are eligible for a $1,000 incentive

  • Systems do NOT require a new furnace for the incentive. Retrofits of existing furnaces qualify

To qualify, the dual fuel heat pump system must:

  • Be a ducted heat pump system

  • Have a SEER rating of 15 or greater

  • Have an HSPF rating of 8.5 or greater in Region IV

  • Be listed as “Heat Pumps” within AHRI. “Variable-Speed Mini-Split and Multi-Split Heat Pumps” and “Water-Source Heat Pumps” are not eligible for this incentive.

Note: A customer cannot receive the incentive for both a new furnace and a dual fuel heat pump.

So much for the argument that heat pumps don’t work in cold climates. The Kinghome product sure does. If you want to know why, check out our previous posts.

See you at the rebate counter! I’m getting my heat pump installed on April 16th!

Until Next Time,

Tom
